Would it be advisable for me to upgrade from xp to windows 7?

Ok so like the title says, would it be a good idea to upgrade to windows 7?

My pc specs (minus the operating system)

Intel Core 2 Duo 8500 @3.16 GHZ

Nvidia 8600GT 512 MB Video card

3 GB of Ram

I play pc games casually at the moment but plan on gaming more often with my pc, my pc has had issues that will require me to wipe and reinstall windows...someone told me it might be a good idea to upgrade to windows 7.

Games that I have at the moment

Advent Rising (runs on max settings fine)

Gears of War (runs on max settings fine)

Infernal (runs on max settings, lags sometimes)

Crysis (runs on high settings, runs at a steady 30fps)

Joint task force (runs on max settings fine)

universe at war ( runs on max settings fine)

Warriors orochi (runs on max settings fine )

Wall-e (runs on default settings runs fine)

The Witcher (runs on max settings, rarely gets lag)

Deus ex (runs max settings, runs fine)

Command and conquer generals zero hour (runs on max settings, runs fine)

Battlefield 2 (runs on max settings, runs fine but audio is choppy)

Battlefield 2142 (runs max settings, runs fine but get lag spikes online)

Neverwinter Nights 2 (runs on max settings, lags quite often..I put the blame on bad programming)

Vampire Masquerade bloodlines (runs on max settings, runs fine)

Chrome specforce (runs on max settings, runs fine except audio is extremely fuzzy sounds like white noise.. game uses star forrce protection, I heard it can cause problems but dont know if its true if I can get a confirmation that would be good.

so yeah will I be able to run those games at the same quality?

also how will I handle games like Star trek online?|||it can be done, however are the games compatible?|||YES|||You might as well get windows 7. Yes you'll be able to run those games at the same quality. If anything your games might run a little better. 7 is good at prioritizing processes. Any new game will run with 7. And you'll easily be able to play Star Trek Online. If you can play crysis, you can play almost any other game.|||Yes. your computer meets the requirements of Windows, and you will have the same or even better game experience, coz 7 is the fast operating system on the world. Note that you can't directly upgrade from XP to Seven, you have to either upgrade to vista first or uninstall windows xp and format your disk. There is also software called PC Mover, which helps you directly install Windows 7 from XP, and keep your installed programs on Windows XP.
