Installing video card windows wont boot?

Hello I have my custom computer, i'm trying to put a AGP video card in but, everytime i do windows xp will not load and screen will just turn black. I know the agp video card is not defective because, it worked when windows 7 was installed and I tried 3 different agp video cards.

Now it works with a PCI vid card. I do not have a PCI E slot.

I tried switching the hard drives, my friend says it could be my Power supply but, how when it worked for windows 7? and one of the agp cards do not need a power input.

Please help n reply with some solutions for me thank you.|||So, you get a display UNTIL Windows does its device detection during the boot process??

Using the PCI card, boot XP into Safe mode and uninstall the display drivers from Device manager.

Turn off the computer. install the AGP and REMOVE any PCI vid card(s).

Go into the CMOS settings and make sure AGP support is turned on. Turn off any onboard/integrated disply adapter settings. Try booting into XP normally.|||it should be drivers issues

maybe ur older drivers aren't removed properly

so try to load on ur previous card , then uninstall older drivers from XP , perform cleanup using Driver Sweaper , then plug in ur card and see if it works or not , if it works then install drivers for new card

if still no display , switch back to previous card , install drivers for new card , and then plug in new card

power supply can't be an issue here since Win 7 is loading properly|||Sounds like it could be driver issues. Go to the manufactures site and download the driver for xp (whichever service pack you're using). Also, look at the minimun system requirements for the that card.|||the problem seems with the os. I think the version of xp you are using is a cracked one. Try installing linux since linux can help you tell if you have any hardware problem. Or continue with your windows7|||hello sounds like that vid card isnt compatible with xp try a diff card to see if it works then u know why good luck!!!!!! ps also go into the bios make sure its set too the agp video
