Are getting dual Nvidia Geforce gtx 295 video cards worth the price, also, is this a good setup?

Is dual gtx 295's worth the $1300 price tag or should i just get one gtx 295 and overclock it, also would this be a powerful setup and would you recommend anything, i am thinking of buying a computer by Stealth

and should i overclock the memory and the processor(im overclocking the graphics card for sure)

PLEASE ONLY ANSWER IF YOU KNOW ABOUT COMPUTERS, I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE ANSWER YOUR QUESTION SAYING" SORRY I DON'T OWN A COMPUTER"SERIOUSLY WTF WHY ANSWER IF YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING AND THATS ALL YOU SAY, ITS RETARTED.

Thanks for your help|||The PSU is a good choice. You can't really spend too much on a PSU, and anyone who has built quality systems (especially gaming systems) will tell you never to skimp on it. The CPU is an excellent choice. I don't know which MB you've chosen but eVGA is typically good. You might consider an ASUS board though as they make quality OCing boards.

I personally think 8 GB RAM is overkill. Unless you're running autoCAD or other heavy multi-thread applications I don't think you're going to notice much of a difference between 4 and 8 GB, not for gaming anyway. If you do a lot of video encoding then it's probably worth it.

One 295 is plenty. In 12-18 months there will be another single card released that outdoes your SLIed 295s.

Almost forgot to add: stay with Windows 7. It's driver support is pretty awesome, I've been really impressed so far. The nice thing is that it just piggybacks off Vistas drivers, which means you have full 64-bit support right out of the box. And yes, it really comes down to Windows 7 or XP. You won't get nearly as much out of XP with a system like that as you will from 7.

One more thing (sorry): Make sure the box has good airflow. A system like that is going to take quite a bit of cooling. Lian-Li makes absolutely top notch cases, as does Silverstone.|||Your spelling of Retarded is retarded......

But yeah, looks like a good setup, and good luck with it. :)|||Agree with Scott.

Also wanted to Add... EVGA GTX 295 is not a Choice card now a days. I'm a die hard Nvidia Fan but Cost Vs Power

read this article

http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/gamin…

Shows the 4870x2 Card Costing less but Performing Better then the 295.

Oh and WIN 7 Preferred.

Another thing is no game uses Quad CPU... Crysis is the only game i've played that uses Multicore and even then it's iffy. Unless you need a Beast machine to Run CAD or Video Editing. Your not gonna get anything with that quad Vs the price you paid for it.

How do i access the settings for my graphics/video card?

i have a windows 7 professional with a ATI 8500 videocard

how do i access the settings or it?|||hi dan

the settings for the graphics card you have will depend if you have a laptop or a desktop pc.... it also depends if you want to access the bios settings or the graphics settings such as resolution or detail settings

on a laptop and desktop pc there are several settings found in the bios, and with intergrated graphics adapters you can alter the amount of memory allocated to the onboard graphics in the bios,, however the lower the memory to the graphics the worse the performance so be aware of this before changing these settings

from the windows desktop ati graphic cards can be configured using the "catylyst control center" which is normally found by right clicking the desktop menu and selecting "catylyst control center " .... you then have a choice of either a basic or advanced control center.... choose advanced

from there you can change resolution.. video modes and overclocking features... however theres much more than just these...

good luck dan !

Is this a Good Video Card to Get for my Computer?

I asked this before but messed up the details lol. I;m thinking of getting this video card to play some games. I don't care to play on HIGH settings, I just want the games to run decently at least. the SIMS 3 in particular.

I bought a brand new custom PC and its great, BUT after about an hour or so the sound stops and videos become choppy, although the PC reports that sound is fully functional *REBOOTING my PC ALWAYS fixes the problem* but it can be quite inconvenient to have to reboot all the time. Nvidia driver for Windows 7?

My laptop has a Nvidia geforce go6150 video card. Hp does not have any drivers for windows seven yet. My screen randomly flickers and I think it might be that I need a newer driver. Any help?|||Go to laptopvideo2go.com because you normally can't install desktop graphic driver for laptop chipset.|||If you go to the Nvidia website and go to download drivers, option 2 will scan your computer to see what nvidia card you do have and what driver you have. Grayed out box for hardware acceleration (windows 7)?

I have updated the drivers for my nvidia fx5500, I was able to adjust the hardware acceleration in windows XP.

why do I want to lower the hardware acceleration?

when I use sites like hulu in full screen mode I get choppy video unless I right click the video go to settings and click on the display tab and uncheck hardware acceleration.

I can do this with most sites. but some sites use DivX and I'm not able to disable the hardware acceleration on that.

so any idea's?

My card does support this.

and I have updated to the newest driver for my card.

Windows 7 is great. Just need a work around for being able to watch full screen video's on streaming sites since my hardware acceleration box is grayed out not letting me make changes.

Thanks|||The GeForce fx5500 isn't officially supported for Windows 7. there probably aren't any drivers that support hardware acceleration.

Will switching to Windows 7 x64 improve things on a 4gb system?

I've got Windows 7 Ultimate x86 installed, and I can install x64 instead. Reformatting or reinstalling isn't an issue. I'm just wondering : will I see performance gains in games that are obviously not optimized for x64? I.e., will having 1 more gb of usable ram (4gb installed, 1gb video card) improve matters at all for recent or future games? Or is this just a waste of time? (I have both OSs on DVD and I do not activate them anyway)|||no not really i have done some testing myself actually on high graphic demanding games 32 bit system tend to perform better than 64 bit. i'd suggest you to install 64 bit OS only if you have 4+ GB Ram otherwise stick with 32 Bit. as for game compatibility any new game will run on either 32 or 64 bit.|||Well thats a long story, but in short you will not see any perfomance gains if the application is not designed to take advantage of x64 processor!

Windows 7 pro doesn't completely shut off my computer, it only shuts down the os, the psu & fans are still on?

So I have a computer that I put together about 2 months ago that I put Windows 7 professional 64bit on. Everything works perfectly except I can't get the computer to shut itself off when I press shutdown in the start menu. It will shutdown the operating system but the computer is still on so I have to manually press and hold the power button on the tower to get the computer to turn all the way off.

I'd like to get it so that I can just click shutdown in the start menu and the entire computer shuts off on its own. Could this be a software problem or a hardware problem? I'm thinking its probably more of a hardware problem. Whichever case it may be how do I fix it? If it's a hardware problem is there a connection I might have missed that would be the culprit?

I didn't include the monitor or keyboard I got because I know it is highly unlikely that either has to do with this problem, although I doubt that every single thing I listed above has anything to do with the problem, but if it is a hardware problem, then I know that something I listed above is the culprit, be it a wrong or missing connection or whatever.

Thank you for your help. I know this doesn't seem like a really big issue but I have forgotten on numerous occasions that my computer doesn't shut itself completely off on its own and I'd rather not have the computer on for huge lengths of time, whether or not it lessens the life of the computer.

5 days ago - 1 day left for voting

I should also add that it does succesfully restart my computer every time on its own. And I've looked up on the gigabyte website and there are two revisions they list for my motherboard model number: rev 1.0 and rev 1.2 and the box that my motherboard came in says rev 1.1

How do I tell what revision my my motherboard is?

OK so I just opened up the case and took a look at the revision number on the motherboard itself and that also says 1.1 so I am emailing gigabyte about what bios I should update to.

I also checked the power supply and I did not see and switch or anything on it to switch to soft power down.|||Hi, the simplest way for you to check is to see if there are any 'x' or '!' in your device manager. If so, you will need to download and install more drivers. Specifically for your motherboard's API or Advanced Power Interface. This controls how your operating system interacts with your motherboard's firmware. You can usually find these drivers from your motherboard (Gigabyte) website.

Also, you mentioned downloading firmware updates such as BIOS updates. You can find this (motherboard revision) when the system boots up and shows you the POST but this may go too fast and disappears from the screen before you can even read it. It is better by actually looking on your motherboard for the revision number, it is usually etched right on the motherboard. Find and update your firmware. This usually helps with the API interface.

When the above things are done, don't forget to check for any Windows Updates as well and check the other options. The default settings usually doe snot automatically downloaded.

Good luck and I hope this helps.|||I hope that I was able to help. Thank you for your vote, I really appreciate it.

|||Could be a couple things but that tricky to figure out. I'm assuming by "will shutdown the operating system but the computer is still on" that Windows appears to shutdown and also the screen goes off or blank? I dont believe hardware can cause this at all but can only be narrowed down to two things and that is Windows or the BIOS. Windows is only appearing to shutdown but you have a process that refuses to stop but if that were the case you should see it still trying to shutdown so unlikely. The screen going blank should be the last thing after Windows is shutdown so I lean toward the BIOS being screwed up and not communicating properly with WIndows. Try this and might fix.. open the case and reset the CMOS and there's two ways but this is easiest, with pc powered off AND UNPLUGGED from wall remove the battery from the motherboard and wait for one minute, then replace the battery, plug power cord in outlet, bootup. Wait a minute and let everything that's suppose to start up do so. Now click "shutdown". EDIT: One thing I always do is check Event Viewer and check for any errors or warning right after it does something weird but if Windows is trully shutdown when this even happens there wont be a error or warning message

I was recommended to change my video card what is the best recommended video card for my computer.?

My computer details : Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 1.80ghz , speed 1794, using windows 7|||You didn't list a budget, nor did you list what you intend to use the computer for. Gaming? Video editing? Can't help you without any info. Nevertheless, that processor is extremely old and will only bottleneck any high end graphics card.|||P4 1.8ghz and Windows 7?

Hmm.

I think it would be unwise to worry about any upgrades for this computer, except maybe RAM if you have less than 2GB. You won't be turning this into a gaming system. This computer should just be used for homework or basic word processing, browsing the internet, and watching videos. Whatever video card is in it is probably fine for those things.

What is it that you would like to do with the computer that it isn't letting you do?|||You don't need to change your video card because your processor is too old and i think there is only AGP slot in your system not PCIe so forget to change your video card or if you change your video card it's total waste of money

You should spend on new system instead of video card|||An ASUS EN210 Silent just for the sake of changing a video card I guess.

How can I get my VGA port to work after upgrading to Windows 7?

I have a Dell Vostro 1500, bought it in 2007. I originally had Windows XP but recently just upgraded to Windows 7. After upgrading, I'm unable to use my VGA to hook up an external monitor to my laptop because it doesn't detect it. I have an integrated video card and i can't seem to find an update for the video card to allow my laptop to detect an external monitor.

I tried using Windows 7 automatic hardware update but it says my video card is up-to-date and im havent been able to find any upgrades online. My service tag has been rubbed away so I cant really look it up on dell.

So anyone know how I can get an external monitor hooked up to my laptop or know where i can find the update for my video card?|||Dell shows only Vista drivers for your laptop

Most Vista video drivers will work on Windows 7 also.

You don't really need to give a service tag to download drivers from Dell.

You can also download chip set (integrated video) drivers from the chip set manufacturer's website.|||You can find the best deal in the Amazon's Cyber Week Deals http://www.amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&node=384082011&tag=cyber-week-deals-20

Windows 7; and a more powerful computer?

ISSUE 1: I recently bought a second computer; the second computer has windows 7; the other computer has Windows Vista. Now that I have windows 7, why exactly is windows 7 going to benefit me? I have no idea what practical use the upgrade in operating systems from vista to Windows 7 is! SECOND ISSUE: I gave up trying to use microsoft flight simulator X. I bought Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004, also known as version 9. Version 9 runs flawlessly on my cheap laptops with the 2MH CPU and lowgrade integrated video cards. So now that I have a smooth-running flight simulator experience, and it runs smoothly on my cheap laptops, why would I need a much more powerful laptop with a highgrade video card? can somebody justify me making a computer purchase next christmas of a gaming computer, when flight sim version 9 is running well on my cheap laptop? Third question: why is it, my Dell Inspiron has a memory-card slot, but my HP Compaq Presario has no memory card slot? Are memory cards being phased out? all memory devices are switching to USB devices?????? I dont own a digital camera. The cameras have used memory cards for years. my compaq presario would need some sort of external adapter for a memory card insertion.|||Issue 1: If you've actually used Vista and 7, you'd know why the upgrade it required. Vista just doesn't work. Simple. I'm not saying7 works flawlessly, but it is better than Vista.

Issue 2: Depends on if you want to play other games. Not everything will run on your cheap laptops. (Laptops aren't for gaming!)

Issue 3: HP was just saving money, that's why there is no card slot. Memory card's are nowhere near extinction.

Issue 4: The button that says 'Enter' or 'Return' on your keyboard. If you use that, you're posts will be a lot more legible.

Good video card for computer?

Ok I have a

Window 7 home edition

4GB RAM

CPU. AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 215 Processor

CPU SPEED 2.71 GHz Performance Rated at: 5.2845 GHz

Sadly my video card is GeForce 6150SE nForce 430,and thats a HORRIBLE video card for gaming.

So I was wondering whats a good video card for gaming thats $110 ,or less?|||Problem is, you'll probably have to replace your power supply for a higher end GPU if your PSU is stock

For around that price though you can get a 4870 Radeon on Newegg for $100 or so after rebate|||Unfortunately the 430 isn't such a great card. It would be a good physx card or for folding. I would recommend you go with a GTS 450 which can be had for around $100. It's on the same level as a GTX 260 with DX11. Can ahndle almost any game at up to1680x1050 and some 1920x1200 with lower textures.

When the prices come down in 6 months or so, get another and run those SLI. 450SLI are on the same level as a GTX 470, run cooler, use less energy and cost much less. Just make sure you get the latest driver (as they are always tweaked for newer games) and have a PSU that can handle the wattage. A good 550w or 600w is ample.

Hope that helps|||http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

Do not buy any new generation cards!!! They will not work. They all use PCI Express X16 slots, which you don't have.

I suggest a Nvidia 8800GT is a good card. Remember you need an AGP version of the card.

Is it possible to upgrade a Windows Vista 32-Bit system to Windows 7 64-bit?

I've browsed the web for a good while and have yet to come to a solid conclusion. I currently run a Windows Vista 32-Bit system (Home Basic, but I have a Windows Vista Ultimate upgrade that I have yet to reinstall since a system format) with a AMD Sempron LE-1250 processor that has the 64-bit instructions enabled. For what I do (Gaming, HD Video Editing, Image Editing, etc), the 4GB limit just isn't cutting it anymore, and I'm looking to upgrade to the Windows 7 64-bit version. Now first of all, I would like to know if it's possible to purchase the Upgrade DVD rather than the full install. Secondly, how would I go about upgrading necessary files required for the switch? I've heard I'd probably need to upgrade my BIOS, but I haven't a clue what that is/how to upgrade it.

I Also have installed on this machine:

ATI Radeon 4650 HD Graphics Card w/ 1GB Video memory

Gateway Motherboard Model MCP61SM2MA

Dual 2GB memory sticks (DDR2)

Thanks to anyone that can help!|||No, you wil have to do a fresh install. The upgrade version of windows 7 will not work. You will have t purchace the full version and wipe the hard drive clean.|||You would need to do a clean install of Windows. Make sure to back up anything you want to keep as a clean install will wipe out all the data you have.

You will be able to use your Windows 7 64-bit Upgrade DVD to do the complete install. Similar to Windows Vista, when you get to the installation screen that allows you to choose between Upgrade or Custom Install, press Custom Install. In order to do a Custom install, you must start the installer before Windows boot.

I hope this helps!|||unfortunately because the 64bit instruction set is so different to x86 its not possible to just to an upgrade you litrally have to wipe the whole harddrive and start again unless you want to screw around with a dual install. the bios upgrade isnt much of an issue it can be downloaded from the OEM and simply flashed.|||You have to clean install whenever moving between 32-bit and 64-bit.

I don't believe you can actually use the upgrade discs coming from anything lower than Home Premium Vista. If you install your Ultimate upgrade, you should be able to use the less expensive upgrade discs (but will still have to technically fresh install with them).|||You cant upgrade a 32bit to a 64bit. You must choose the Custom Installation option. After installing it will create a Windows.old folder of your folders/docs however you will need to re install programs.|||hi matt clancy, so you have looked around and you are wondering about if you should experiment with windows flavors so please allow me to explain the mistakes that microsoft did they were experimenting with so many picturals or pictures would go into a one inch square and it worked so good that they had to get it into the market before their competeter did it so without too much fore thought they released vista ( now believe me i loved vista) but vista was plequed with problems one was it had boot issues and it used way too much ram and so the computer froze especially if you had a slow computer and a small processor. but people like me wanted to install a 64gb with a 32gb motherboard so i have friends that are computer repairmen so i called up my old trusty friend and said hey i want to and i got the facts every computer that was sold just about had a 32gb motherboard so to do my upgrade i would have to have a 64gb motherboard so other than having a new motherboard, new processor, 4gb of new ram, and a new power unit no problem so how much is it going to set me back oh around $800.00 dollars. well when he said that i felt like i was on welfare i didn't have that kind of money well stick with your vista 32 gb then he said. good luck hope i was helpful to you

What video card should I get?

I am looking for a video card which will allow me to run 3+ monitors from my windows 7 machine. At least one with HDMI. (I have a 32" LCD TV as my main monitor and 2 VGA monitors for my seondary and tertiary)

Any ideas?|||As I explained to you previously, your third monitor MUST have a DisplayPort jack if you want to run triple monitors off one video card-- That's what triple-monitor video cards like ATI's Eyefinity HD5000- and HD6000-series cards require. If your third display does not have a DisplayPort jack, then you will have to spend another $100 or so on an Active DisplayPort dongle.

If you want to use your LCD HDTV as your main monitor and two VGA monitors on the sides, I recommend at least an HD5750 with two DVI ports and one DisplayPort. You will need to buy an Active DisplayPort-to-DVI dongle and a DVI-to-HDMI cable to connect the DisplayPort jack to your HDTV's HDMI, and connect the VGA monitors to the two DVI-I ports on the card using DVI-to-VGA adapters.

Hope this helps.

.|||I am doing the same thing. I got a ATI Radeon 5770 HD and have no complaints at all. Great card and cheap. It comes with one DVI to VGA converter, so you'll have to pick another one up to run both VGA's, they are very cheap though. http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q…|||I suggest you buy ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2.

Should I get windows 7 or keep vista?

So I have an XPS M1530 that's a bit over a year old. I take good care of it so it's still very fast after a long startup process. I'm currently running vista 32bit home premium, but I'm also dual booting windows 7 RC, and before that I was using the beta. My question is, do I upgrade to windows 7 32 bit (upgrade, not clean install), leave vista and clean install windows 7 professional over the RC on the other partition (I got the professional version for free from my school and the upgrade for $30 if I want), or do I just forget about windows 7 and wait for the RC to expire?

Also, I COULD clean install the 64bit version just because my processor can handle it and I already have 4 gigs of RAM (is this a good move or will 32bit do just fine?), however I want all of my files, settings, applications, saved game data, and everything else on my hard drive to come back (I have TONS of programs that are crazy expensive to replace). Would this be possible? I back up regularly, but can these backups restore everything on top of a new OS? If that is possible, how does it work, can someone break it down as much as possible? Ideally I want get rid of my other partition so I can put that free space back onto my main partition.

And if I were to do a regular upgrade, can that be reversed through a backup like a system restore or do I need the vista disk? I am usually very good with computers, but I haven't had to deal with OS changes so I am pretty clueless when it comes to the risks of data loss and would appreciate any and all help. I know my computer can handle windows 7, I know it can handle 64-bit, I know how windows 7 works, I just need to know if an upgrade would be worth it

Computer specs:

XPS M1530 : Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit

Processor: 2.4GHz core 2 duo

RAM: 4 GB

Video card: nvidia 8600 GT

Hard drive: 250 GB (which is why I want the other partition gone)|||Saved games are usually kept in your Documents folders or in the Programs folder of the game, so tracking them down shouldn't be that difficult. Many online games keep your info on the server (like Diablo II for example), so again, nothing to worry about. As far as the programs that you're worried about, don't you have the install disks for them? If you have legitimate copies of them on your computer, I see no reason you couldn't torrent to get a copy for re-installation, just be careful of where you get it. For instance, I have all The Sims 2 expansions, but I don't like dragging out ALL those boxes and CDs, so I use torrented .iso's to install the game when I need to since I can fit all the EPs on three DVDs and the mounted .iso's install about 5x faster then from the CDs. I use my purchased keys to install, of course (copied to a text file on the burned DVDs). This also keeps my CDs in perfect condition since they just hang out in their cases.

Anyway, for your situation, Make an image of your Vista install using something like Macrium Reflect and then do a clean install of 7 Pro x64. It will allow you to use all 4 GB of your RAM and you won't have to worry about upgrading anything again for a very long time...

_|||I have a XPS M1330 so the smaller version of yours with a slower processor and only 2GB of Ram but other than that pretty much the same.

I have just installed the Win 7 Ultimate after having the Beta and RC on there and I have been hugely impressed. I was a vista fan...one of the few...but Windows 7 is a smaller OS, seems much quicker and basically just a refined version of Vista ... well worth it in my opinion.

As for the 32/64 bit question ... if you have compatible hardware and software for 64bit then go that way. A mate works for M$ and he got 64bit on his and is very impressed, again he had the Beta and RC too.

As for rolling back from Win 7 to Vista ... no i don't think so. But you won't want to!!

I did an inplace upgrade and all my data was kept, that was with the RC so I was WELL impressed, but I took a backup just in case...and would suggest you do to ;)

I hope that answers all the questions ... there were a lot of them ;)

What Graphics/Video card is best for me?

This is my Setup:

Intel Pentium 4 CPU 1.80GHz,

a PT800-8237 motherboard

Graphics Interface: AGP Version 3.0 w/ maxtransferrate=8x and enabled sideband.

1GB DDR ram. ( two 256MB and one 512MB )

and a 128MB ATI Radeon 9250.

I would like a Graphics card that can run the Aero feature of Windows 7 smoothly and run some games like Spore. Dad can't afford a new PC now but he can shell out for a video card upgrade.

Thanks! -Mike|||AGP graphics cards are more expensive than pci-express. the best bet for your computer is the ATI HD 4650 AGP with 1GB dedicated video ram. i think it will run with your existing power supply that should be at least a 250W (forget that garbage of 400W noted on the newegg site).

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

another weak point within your PC is the odd memory. to get a faster memory access it would be better to have 2 equal pairs 2x256MB + 2x512MB, so an upgrade of 512MB to 1.5GB would help too.

Windows 7 Standart VGA Graphic Adapter Problem?

Hello, i bought a Dell Inspiron 1564 laptop 2 days ago, without an OS, when i installed Windows 7 Professional and downloaded the drivers for the hardware, it turned out that my Display adapter is Standart VGA Graphic Adapter (16mb), and can't install a 64bit video card driver. What are some of the best video cards I can get for my computer?

I have Windows 7,a coolermaster PC box, dual quad core 3.0 MHz each Athlon, 8 GB of RAM and 2 TBs of hard drive currently I have a nvida physx286 video card I'm very disappointed in its quality. It takes forever to render animation and I love playing command and conquerors and the game crashes right when I'm about to kick butt. I want a video card that will kick butt. Anybody have some suggestions on what kind of video card and how much are they about? I appreciate your input|||Personally I like the Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti

I installed windows 7 in my pc. But it doesnt support video driver.?

I searched over net but i could not find any video driver. Some of my friends told that there is no separate video driver for windows 7. But i need video card.|||If you can't find one specific to Windows 7 most of the time the one written for VISTA will work.

If it does NOT work then you may need a different video card.|||If you know the driver name and version of your video driver in xp or in any former version of your operating system just goto www.softpedia.com and to drivers tab search there with your former driver name search the result for new versions and you can also see the compatability for windows 7 under the name of the driver.|||In general win 7 will work by the in-built drivers in the OS... but if you want to extend your graphic card performance to its maximum. You can download the related drivers from the card manufacturer site( one which supports win 7 of course)!!|||as windows 7 is relatively new OS so it will definitely have some compatibility issues with drivers as its always HAS BEEN with MICROSOFT thats the way they are.. u can't help it....

so either wait for some time until the drivers r released from your graphics card manufacturer or else u can try using drivers which r compatible with vista as suggested by some fellow yahoo users.

..

I need to find drivers for a Nvidia 8400m GT for windows 7 64 bit.?

Icant seem to find anything that works. I am using the standard video driver that comes with windows 7 but I really need to find the compatible drivers for the nvidia 8400m GT video card. I tried the nvidia site and nothing is working im stumped!|||You'll wanna check the nVIDIA site under drivers. However, when Vista first came out, some nVIDIA cards were not supported properly until a little after Vista's release. Gamer's were outraged.

Still, around the blog section of nVIDIA, I've heard/seen advise pointing to this specific driver install:

I put Windows 7 on my eMachines now I have no video card?

I have an eMachines t2798 and on the eMachines website it says that it has an Intel® Extreme Graphics 3D 64MB Shared memory video card. On Windows 7 device manager it says Standard VGA Graphics Adapter. I'm not sure what to do from here. I have googled and tried to find any driver for the Intel but I have found nothing. Also the chipset is Intel® 845GV chipset, if this matters. Any help would be perfect!|||questions

did u purchace the pc new ?? if so 90% come with intergarted graphics ie what you are showen as 3d 64mb graphic

i sugest you pay few pounds and get a pci express graphic card even a 512mb card will cost only few quid now ! interated cards are either for very old and low end pcs or them kinda pcs you buy from pc world and dixons and alot of laptops

they cheap today

64 mb is so dull and crap nearly useless unles syou just google websites - no offence but you cant run high end videos or games on a 64mb on board card windows 7 prob just picked up ur info maybe try reset your relosution etc to make it feel normal , cus im sure win7 would pic up a on board card no problems|||This intel web page should scan your pc. If not browse around within the site for your chipset.

I have had a quick look and I think you are unlucky, because I don't think that they supply drivers for your graphics for win 7

edit sorry forgot to put the address http://www.intel.com/support/detect.htm|||I'm pretty certain that there are no Windows 7, or even Vista drivers for that chipset. You may get away with installing xp drivers if you adjust your compatibility settings for the installation program. But the chances are probably not.

Video Card choices for windows 7?

I just recently bought a new computer and would like to know some choices for a good video card for it.

Here are some specs and info:

It is a desktop computer

it has 1 intel core 2 duo processor (2.9)

3gb of ddr2 ram

run on windows 7 64bit

has a built in video card though i cannot remember it off the top of my head.

Anyways, i bought it specifically to play WoW (world of warcraft) and though it has good framerate, i would like to know other options for a video card to improve it even more.

In the future i plan on adding 2 more gigs of ram and adding in a 2nd processor, but for now i want to a buy a new video card. Something thats a maximum of $70 or $80 is a good price range.

Can I do a fresh install of Windows 7 on a HP GT70-200 Laptop?

I have a laptop from HP with Vista loaded (1 year old). It took an automatic Windows upgrade and the system files got corrupted. I could not do a recovery and was screwed. I had somebody try to load a copy of Vista on it (but it was an upgrade version instead of full install). It is working, but I can't get the network adapter to work (tried loading new driver), the video card shows an error and all "other" devices show as an error. No Internet even hard wired to a router. I have 2 choices, take it in somewhere and see what happens or I am thinking of buying a full install of Windows 7 and starting from scratch. Any thoughts on best path? 200 bucks for Windows 7, but will it load properly and recognise the network adaptors and "other devices"?|||Yes it should work fine|||Drivers do not come with the OS for laptops for some reason.|||yes? why not then..?

Windows 7 recognizes my Dell 2001FP monitor but there is no display.?

I am using a Dell Studio 1440.

It is connected by an HDMI to DVI-D cable.

The monitor is on the correct (DVI-D) input.

I installed the newest drivers for the NVIDIA 9400M video card.

I used Fn-F8 (it's actually F1 for my laptop).

It worked in Vista 2 days ago with the same setup, but only with a specific resolution (I've tried all the available resolutions in 7).

I've tried to connect through the "clone" mode and "extend desktop" through both windows and the NVIDIA control panel. The monitor changes to a slightly lighter shade of black. The computer sees no problem with the monitor.|||You may need to go back to windows vista, go to dell find all of your drivers load them to disk and install them after you up date to windows 7.

Problem installing windows 7.?

So im trying to install windows 7 on my stationary computer but i encountered some problems.. I had a problem on the computer before, the screen doesn't connect well to the computer. To make it work i had to start the computer then wait about a minute or so then power on the screen otherwise the screen would say no video input, i also got the same problem when using another screen. I got used to living with it but then came the time when i needed to install windows 7. I inserted the disc and started the installation and everything was looking good but then when the installation restarted the computer my brother turned of the computer after it was powered on (by pressing down the power on button for a few seconds). Now when we start the computer we cant get the screen to work at all and the computer just keeps restarting. What are the possible solutions for this problem? will i need to get a new graphics card or something like that or is there another way to solve the problem?|||I read your question three times and it seems to me your video card is not working, you state that you have to wait a minute or so or the monitor says no video input, the same happens when using another screen. If you have a graphics card that is plugged into the motherboard that remove it and use the on board graphics card - remember to change the BIOS settings. Failing that you will have to by a new graphics card. Be careful when buying a new graphics card because you have to match it to the motherboard. If your motherboard is about five years old you might have difficulty in getting a graphics card for it.

I can't image it being a problem with the monitor, it seems to me the monitor would either work or it wouldn't. I idea of a temperamental monitor just doesn't make sense to me, as well as the fact that I have a monitor that is some 10 years old and that still works. But then I have barely moved it so there is no way I could have broken anything inside it. If anything was damaged inside the monitor then the 1.5A fuse would blow and the monitor would not work. The fact that your monitor is telling you that it is not receiving an input signal means it must be operating correctly. It has got to be the video card.|||Hi

if this is an old monitor the chances are that it has eventually died.

It has been trying to warn you that it wants to die..now it has.

also unplugging the monitor without powering down the monitor often blows the video card that is a common mistake. so it could be both and on rare occasions even the motherboard gives up also.|||try reinstalling windows and then u might have to dl a new video driver

also u may need to boot directly from the win-7 install disc

enter ur bios and change the boot divece

PLEASE HELP ME. I'D RATHER NOT BUY A NEW LAPTOP/COMPUTER. PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO GET EVERYTHING RIGHT, ESPECIALLY IF I CAN UPGRADE MY PROCESSOR :)

THANKYOU :)|||You might need a service technician to do this for you. Mostly, for ordinary people they can do the upgrading for RAMs, but not so common for the laptops to change the processor. Your laptop had to be cut open and replace the processor of same size and form. For PC's this is easy.

The specs above might be the recommended requirements, and the minimum would be lower but meet your laptop's specs that SIM 3 can still run.|||sensu stricto.. Those specifications given by game is for desktop processor, not a mobile varient of processor used in laptops.. So a 2.4GHz processor in laptop still below the requirment of game...

I hate to say you this, but you can not change the processor in laptop and even your manufacturer will not change it for you.. If they did it will cost you more than a price of a new laptop..

A good news for you, your laptop is AMD llano processor based, that means you can play most of the games at mid settings.. : goodluck!

Windows 7 vs Windows Vista Question. Games-operating requirements?

I am buying a new computer and have been looking at what specs to get. The computer would have to run some games for my family such as the sims 3.

With this in mind, I was looking at the games requirements.

Windows XP (Service Pack 2)

2.0 GHz P4 processor or equivalent

1 GB RAM

At least 6.5 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB additional space for custom content

128 MB Video Card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0

Windows Vista (Service Pack 1)

2.4 GHz P4 processor or equivalent

1.5 GB RAM

At least 6.5 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB additional space for custom content

128 MB Video Card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0

As you can see the game requires a better pc when using windows vista.

My question is with Windows 7 nearly here, will I need an even more powerful PC to run these same games if i get windows 7.

If anyone can help me out and just generally provide more information about windows 7 and gaming i od really appreciate it.

Thanks a lot

Will|||hello will (my real name too)

and Windows 7 will not need any more then vista it is actually desigend to use less resources then vista so i wouldn't be surprised if the official release is less.

2 gb of ram

512 mb video card with a geforce 8400 chipset

I've been working for a long time with Vista x32 and I do two things on this PC ( Gaming and watching movies )

So I wanted to know whether it would be better to go 7 or stick with vista ?

and If It's better to get 7 .. Which one would be better x64 or x86 ?

Plus I want to know what's the difference between the x32 , x64 and x86 things ?

Thanks :)|||The versions are no different when it comes to gaming and watching movies. Truthfully for most home users Professional is sufficient.

For gaming I found my games more responsive once I moved to Win7 from Vista (less crashes also).

X86 and 32bit (there is no x32 or x64) are both terms for the same memory architecture machines these days - 32 bit addressing.

Potentially you could use the 64 bit and gain access to the .5 GB that is waste of your 4 but you need to know if a) there are 64 bit drivers for all the hardware you use and b) if all the software you use (including games) will run in a 64 bit environment.

Truthfully, I would stick to 32 bit because there is not a huge advantage to 64 bit yet and novice computer folks get themselves into too much trouble jumping to 64 bit. By the time you are ready for your next system would be a good time to switch - all vendors should be at 64 by then.|||Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate 32-bit would be good for you.

Note: Home edition has no compatibility mode which is needed for many applications which is runing in Vista or even XP mode!

Now about other:

1) x86 is the generic term and it refers to the most commercially successful instruction set architecture in the history of personal computing.

2) x32 means 32-bit processor and up to 4 GB of RAM on motherboard.

3) x64 menas 64-bit processor and here are the upper RAM limits for the different editions of Windows 7: Starter and Home Basic 8 GB, Home Premium 16 GB and Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate 192 GB.|||Ask yourself if Vista works good for you. If it doesn't, upgrade to the Home edition. If it's fine, there's no reason for you to waste your money =).

Windows XP 64 bit or windows 7 64 for gaming?

So I realized with my friends pc , wich is XP 64 bit and has 2 gigs of ram. He can play any game maxed out settings with an 8800 nvidia video card. Where I on the other hand have windows 7 64bit 4gigs and ATI radeon HD 5670 wich is far better then his set up. When we play games, his games are more smooth. He get better FPS and everything then me. Should I go with windows XP 64 bit? We play the same games , my drivers are all up to date , and all. My PC is all new, his is still kinda old.|||http://www.hwcompare.com/185/geforce-880…

(Above) benchmark comparing 8800 and 5670, 8800 dominates in texil and pixel rate

Want to get better performance? buy a new gpu, I advise at least the 6850 or gtx 560 (I recommend the 6870 or the gtx 560 for minimum)

edit: Sorry, 64bit is for 4gb+ RAM (if you ever decide to upgrade, it is unnecessary to go past 8Gb)

and also, Windows XP does not support DX11; he could always be playing at lower settings or resolutions, I would check your resolution and settings|||Umm... well, there are a few things going on here.

1) Windows XP only supports DirectX9. Which means his "maxed out" settings are going to be MUCH worse than your "maxed out" settings.

2) Windows XP sucks. It's a decade old and about to be out of its supported lifetime.

3) 64-bit Windows XP sucks even more than Windows XP 32-bit. I'm actually surprised anything works on your friend's PC at all, as XP 64-bit is amongst the least supported OSes around.

Definitely go with Windows 7 64-bit for gaming. You get DirectX11 and aren't using outdated software.|||What? No ofcourse not! Your pc is way better, and why is he using windows XP 64bit when he only has 2gb of RAM? You should stick with the Win7 install, it is way easier and supports DirectX 11, which XP doesn't. And oh, he's probably playing on a lower resolution.

Directx 11 vs nvidia 9200(8200) for windows 7?

I recently bought a computer to play my silly but a blast imo video game" world of warcraft cataclysm"

so here is my issue , i have turned all my graphics options in game down ALL the way , i have driver updated , virus scanned etc the works my frame rate(refresh) has intermittent dropping to 2-4 and its ruining my ability to play , i think the highest fps i have ever had is 37fps, and if i could just get 20 and " hold" i would be so happy. this is not latency related at all , internets great and on other computers in the house have np so heres my computers stats:

.. this computer CAME with directx 11(made for or added into windows 7 .. but directx 11 is NOT supported by the video card(neither is 3d vision, physX,UDA,or SLI)... so why did they give a comp directx 11 when its not compatible with the video hardware? ..and how to fix.. i am suspicious this is causing my framrate issue..any tips on install of the directx 9 safely and removing 11 , or tips that fix fps would be great! also no its not worse in highly populated areas of my mmo rpg, and has been getting progressivly more frequent=)|||Nvidia is the best

ATI Radeon 9000 driver for windows 7?

I have an older PCI ATI 9000 pro video card that ATI no longer supports and doesn't have driver for windows 7. How much to upgrade from Windows Vista to Windows 7?

I have a vista desktop which i rarely use, and a MacBook Pro which i use allll the time for video editing.

Since Mac's arent all that great for gaming i decided im going to super upgrade the windows machine (Intel Core i7, 1tb HD, reallyyyy nice Nvidia graphics card etc.) so i'll be able to play all the games for years to come on maxed settings. But, from what i've seen of the PC, Vista is a terrible OS (constant virus warnings, unresponsive/cluttered interface), and i wanted to know how much it is to upgrade from Vista Home Premium (32 bit) to Windows 7 (whichever version is best for gaming cuz thats gonna be it's sole purpose). Windows 7 F5D7000 card driver problem?

I have a wireless internet card that i use for vista and its fine.... when i run win 7 on the same computer and try to install drivers it doesn't work. i tried the disk it gave me and i tried a lot of other things that were compatible with vista. finally i got my computer to recognize i even had a card but there was a problem... i think it said could not start the device or something i know it was code 10 though.... to make the problem worse i cant get my video card driver so the card gets really hot because i cant turn up the fan..... thanks for your help|||Plug it into the RJ45 port and hit Windows 7 Driver Update from the Device Manager. My audio issues were resolved that way for me. I have a Linksys Wireless adapter (not the USB type) and my Vista Drivers worked perfectly. And WOW, does IE8 suck or what? I downloaded Safari and am using it. IE8 won't even maintain cookie state. Not good. lots of work left.

Hey, but at least they brought back Internet Backgammon.|||Well as we all know and i hop you too Windows 7 is in beta stage and in a testing condition so if you are having any problem related to your cards drivers and any other thing then try to put it on microsoft related forum. Would installing 64 bit Windows 7 make any real difference to the performance of my laptop?

My laptop is currently running Windows 7 32-bit.

It's got an Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 2.4GHz processor, and 4GB of memory installed, only 3 of which it can use of course, due to only running a 32-bit operating system. It has an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3670 graphics card.

It's 'Windows Experience Index' scores are 5.9 for 'Processor', 'Memory (RAM)' and 'Primary Hard Disk', and 6.3 for both graphics scores.

I use it for some casual gaming (mostly older games), video editing, sound editing, media use, etc.

There are pros and cons to upgrading to the 64-bit Windows 7:

Pros: Use the extra GB of memory

Cons: Possible loss of compatability with certain programs

Having to wipe PC, install Vista 64-bit and then upgrade to Windows 7 (due to only having the upgrade pack!)

I just want to know if upgrading and using that extra memory will make my computer any faster or better to use, as I don't want to sacrifice all the fuss for a zero notable increase in performance.|||Use 64 bit. Most modern programs and drivers now have 64 bit versions (which perform better compared to their 32 bit counterparts). The 64 bit OS also has a compatibility mode that will allow it to run 32 bit programs, so no problems with compatibility there. Also, 64 bit will allow you to make use of all your RAM. You are wasting 1 GB of the RAM you paid for. With the programs and games nowadays, you will need all the RAM you have. A 64 bit OS has better security features compared to a 32 bit OS.

Get 64 bit. There will indeed be an increase in performance and security,|||It really shouldn't make that much of a difference because most programs don't really use that much RAM anyway.

Windows 7 screen too big.?

ok i just installed windows 7 home premium 32-bits on my computer and i did not back up anything. after the installation was complete i saw that everything on my computer is now really big. i don't know what to do. also windows aero don't work. i tried the trouble shoot option and this is what it says;

the current video card may support aero with a driver that is compliant with the windows display drivers model wddm. contact the manufacturer of your computer or video card for a WDDM-compatible driver.

But i don't know what video card i have and it don't say it on my computer but i know what my manufucruer is. packard bell but there nothing on that website.

my computer is not the new ones. i think i got it in 2005/6 and the name of it is ez-cool N-100.

pleeease hellp me find my video drivers to make my windows 7 better!|||Try finding the manual to your computer or a receipt. The components should be listed there (when selling a computer they are usually placed inside the computer box.

You can also try downloading AIDA32 and it will tell you everything about your computer. Then download the drivers from the video card manufacturer site.

Also I think that w7 icons are made bigger by default. There should be settings that let you make them smaller. The DPI setting should help as well...|||If you can’t find the right drivers manually I would recommend just getting a software program that can do it for you. There is a program I use which will find drivers for just about all hardware devices. The best part is it takes a snapshot of your system specifications and matches the right driver to go with it. Perform a free driver scan at:

Need a bit of help with windows 7?

Today i installed windows 7. I love it and all... now the problem isss that my games and screen saver wont work because of some error that says it needs a newer video card OR one thats compatible with DIRECT3D. So my computer was bought this year and worked for vista so why not 7? i wiped everything in the memory so im assuming im missing a program that makes it work... help...|||if you go to your computers brand website they probably have some sort of windows 7 upgrade package that has all the programs for Vista, or thats how it was with mine|||You probably need to install fresh video drivers.

Look on your computers website and download it.

Search Windows update to find them.

If this does not work you need to upgrade your video card.|||install ur graphic card's driver

Windows 7 and capture card?

ok guys up until this point i was useing an easycap capture card that i bought online for 12 dollars to record my xbox 360. however i recently upgraded to a new computer with windows 7 (64 bit) and it does not work at all. i have tried everything to do it. i even took a chance on downloading some driver for it which did not work. so i want to know if anyone can confirm something i can use to do videos in HD from my 360 on my new computer. $100 or lower please but if you cant get it any cheaper than that i still wana know about it so i can look into getting it :) thanks in advance:)|||If you want good quality at a decent price, you should consider the following device:

http://www.play-asia.com/SOap-23-83-fbyd…

It will connect to your computer's USB port, and you can connect your PS3 to it via component cable(which is very cheap, and easily available. You may already have one). After that, you can play and record directly from your computer, and it has some editing features too. The recording will be in 560p, which is quite good for its price(I've seen recorders in the $150-200 range).

The complete cost including shipping to USA will be around/less than $85, and they accept PayPal also. So that's a good deal in my opinion. And yes, it does support Windows 7. Hope I helped.

Video card for my computer?

ok so I have $160 dollar and that means im looking for a video card that is less then $160.

I want a video card that can play call of duty games, gta, assassin's creed games or if there is a video card that is less then $160 that can play battlefield bad company games, just let me know.

my computer is a "Compaq SR5050NX" and is windows 7 ultimate.

right now I have a "Intel(R) 82945G Express Chipset Family" video card

so can you please find a good video or graphics card and give me the give were it is and thanks|||First get this psu: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817101048

Then get this: Radeon HD 5850

and if you look here: http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html, you will notice that it is better than some thousand dollar processors. Yeah, I know that you are now a little over budget at 188$ but its worth it . this thing will easily run all those games you mentioned. Before you get this card however make sure you have the proper pci. If you have pci express x16 than that would be ideal. I have a Radeon HD 6850 and wow it is fast as hell especially with my trusty Intel Core i7-2600 @ 4.0GHz. Btw i love all those games, especially assassins creed and battlefield bad company 2.|||Your computer probably has a 300 Watt power supply. Good luck finding a graphics card that will run on that.

DDR Ram upgrade for Dell Dimension 2350, maybe windows 7?

Where can i find some cheap ram for a Dell Dimension 2350 online. I believe it uses ddr maybe someone can help me figure out the exact ram. I want to max out the ram and put windows 7 on it. Will windows 7 run good enough with ddr ram? Also looking to upgrade the video card to like 512mb memory but don't know which video card to buy. Any information is greatly appreciated and thank you for all ya guys input.|||Dimension 2350 uses DDR 184-pin PC2100 (266MHz). At least that's the max for it. Total of one gig can be used in that system (512MB stick in each slot)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

Ram specifically for your computer. It would be best to order 2 of these instead of mismatching your old Ram with one stick of this.

As for running Windows 7....my crystal ball sees you tossing your computer out the window and beating it with a baseball bat on your lawn while your neighbors gather. It may run, but boy would it be slow. Stick with what you are running now until you can get a new system.

And for the video card.....you do not have a slot that would support a high end card. The only option for an upgrade here would be a PCI card. This would probably be an upgrade from your onboard graphics, but honestly they are kind of expensive for what you get. Check this link for some options:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLis…

If you are serious about upgrading all of these things your money may be better spent on a new system.

Hope this helps!|||check these links

Where can I get Compaq 610 graphics driver for windows 7?

My computer has an intel graphics card. I downloaded the compaq 610 intel video driver for windows 7 from hp website, but it says "driver is not validated for your computer... get appropriate driver." Why it's happening. Intel video driver for windows xp initally worked with 7 before crashing. What is a good gaming video card for Windows 7/Vista?

I have a computer with 4GB RAM, 5.17 GHZ processor, and so on

pretty good computer, but my video card keeps letting me down on games, i have the 'GeForce 6150SE nForce 430'

what video card would be good and fit for windows 7/vista?|||First off, 5.17ghz processor? Are you sure about that? What processor do you have?!

A good processor all depends on your screen size, price range, and what games you want to play

Right now, i would recommend the ati 5850, it can basically every game at highest settings in 1920x1080 resolution, many games at 2560x1600, and is one of the best deals on the market at 300 dollars.|||5.17 GHz aye?! love to know WTF ur usig to cool it :P

if ur not concerned about Xfire or Sli ability recommend 5850 or 5870

otherwise a GTX285 will suffice|||Use nVIDIA Geforce 295 GTX

Comparable video cards to the 9800 GT?

Exactly the question. It needs to be under 150-175. And no I will NOT upgrade my video card to get a 6850 or whatever it is. I just need something to hold me over for two years that will play any game I want, even if it's lowest settings.

TL;DR Best card that's comparable to 9800 GT.

I'm running:

Intel core i5 750 @ 2.67 Ghz

6GB of DDR3 1333Mhz

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

300W PSU(Standard)

Ati Radeon HD 5450|||Your budget can actually buy something much better than the 9800GT. Consider the ATI HD 5770.

http://www.techspot.com/review/305-starc…

Check pricing here;

BTW, the HD 6850 is not really expensive nowadays;

if you doo not mind ati , go get ati radeon 6850 , both are in your pice range .

What is the issue here? Windows 7 ( After installing can't open games)?

Hello.

I installed Windows 7 (x32) .

then I started getting errors. like randomly; for example:

--> On World of Warcraft, it gives me the error "World of Warcraft was unable to start up 3d acceleration. please make sure directx 9.0c is installed and your video drivers are up to date."

--> On Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne: It starts up and shows that picture of abbadon (this guy http://www.dvdfever.co.uk/smallpic/inbr07bd_s.jpg) and it just freezes there. I left it for like 30 minutes and it just stood there.

-Note the following:

*These games worked properly before the installation of the new windows software.

*I have DirectX 11.

*My video card is ATI Radeon 9200.

*I tried 'Clean-Booting'.

*Tried starting in window mode for WoW.(recommended from help techs)

*Tried starting with no sounds for WoW.(recommended from help techs...)

*My drivers are up-to-date according to Windows Update Center.

Any tips are welcome, please help I've spent like 15:35 hrs trying to fix this, but whose counting

-> Issues not fixed: 3d acceleration (Actually DirectX Features in the "DxDiag" are all "Not Available") but I thought of this issue as inconvenient since the errors are random, and War III won't start even tho it's not related to 3D Acceleration (my guess) *

*note: this is not the question. the question is about how to fix the whole issue (read the full topic) not the 3D acceleration problem. if you believe fixing the 3D acceleration problem will fix the whole situation then please explain.

Thank you all,

Regards,

Moathe.|||Sometimes after installing Windows 7, you really need to go through and update all of your drivers. There is some software that goes through your whole system, finds any outdated drivers, pulls the newest drivers from the manufacturers website and installs them for you. All this with only one click.|||Use Windows Update to make sure your computer has all the right drivers it needs to work well :)

You may have to download the graphic drivers manually from the manufacturers site. Windows Update sometimes won't recognize all of your hardware

Windows 7 Reboots at "Starting Windows" Screen?

I just got a computer from my friend so I decided to move my harddrive and video card from the old computer to the new, not much of a problem. However when i booted the computer the computer would get to the "Starting Windows" screen and then it would just restart, as if I turned the computer off and turned it back on. I ended up formatting my harddrive and reinstalled Windows 7 and then I put my files back on with an external harddrive but I was just wondering if there was anyway other than that in order to solve that problem. [By the way, I have already tried to do the system repair using the Windows 7 disk but when I tried it the program said that it either "could not automatically repair startup" or that it "couldn't detect a problem". Im saying this in order to help pinpoint the problem.] Thanks you for any suggestions or solutions in advance on this problem.|||If the HDD moved contained an OS within it...then most likely the problem would be that...

HELP WITH MY VIDEO CARD DRIVER FOR MINECRAFT?!?

my bf bought me minecraft :) yea we're nerds

anyways, I downloaded it and it said my computer has bad video cards? The one I have currently is a Radeon Xpress 200M Series version 7.14, so I went to the ATI website to upgrade it to the 10.2 version. Proceed to download 10.2, and after it's finished opening Catalyst, it said I "do not have adequate software to run the program" or something similar, don't remember exactly what.

Can you help me with the new software?? I know where to download the video card drivers and all, but it doesnt work... if it helps I have a 2007 Toshiba operating on Windows Vista Home Basic 6.0

thanks!|||You likely either.

1- Don't have netframework 2.0 installed. (Catalyst control center relies on this, .netframework is software)

-Get it here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyId=333325fd-ae52-4e35-b531-508d977d32a6&displaylang=en

-retry

2- You got the wrong graphics driver for your windows version, what I mean is that you may be using 64bit and you downloaded the 32bit driver.

- Press start and type dxdiag, it should tell you if you are running a 64bit operating sytem

- Download correct version

- Retry

Also, I have a 10 year old computer that can run minecraft without a hiccup.|||What it is telling you is the installed video card does not meet the games system requirements to run on your lap top. Always compare the games minimum system requirements to those of the lap top before buying and installing. Graphics card help with Windows 7?

I have just upgraded to Windows 7 and it recgonizes my graphics card only as a standard VGA etc. But i have an MSI MX4000-T64 64MB nVidia GeForce AGP 8X Video Card. Whilst on XP it recgonised it straight away. I have tried downloading the driver but says it cannot install as no NVIDIA devices are found. Although i can still watch videos etc very well, i know i am not getting the full use of the card. For example...I cannot use any screen savers as it says my card does not support 3dx. Windows xp or windows 7 for gaming?

Ok,so I'm getting a pc soon I wanna know which one is better for me as the purpose of gaming. Here are some basic specs of the pc:

intel core i7 920 2.66ghz 8mb cache...

8 or 12 gb of ddr3 ram.

os on the pc: windows 7 ultimate x64(64 bit)

22-24in monitor

- I have a good video card

the games i'm gonna buy for this pc are all the call of duty games for pc and all the medal of honor games for pc.and few other realted games. So some games have a hard time with windows 7 and some have a hard time with xp. I'm really confused.I want windows 7 ultimate x64 but on the other hand xp has more compatibility. I have heard of xp mode but I suspect that it won't be sturdy enough

to run the games that are made for xp. So I am really confused. I also don't want to dual boot cause it's complex to set the driver, boot stuff,etc...I just want a os that will support my needs.|||Why is this even in question? XP is out of date. Programs are not going to be made for it any more. Windows 7 is compatible with directx11 witch makes your games look 1000 times better. Just youtube DX10 and DX11. Windows XP is only DX9 compatible and vista is DX10 compatible (forget about Vista) Windows 7 run a million times better than vista. You have a really good cpu and a ton of ram so there is no reason why you shouldint go with windows 7. Just about every thing will run on it. Including old programs, the only problem i have had with windows 7 compatibility is running an old game from the 90s. Nuke nukem 3d|||if you have that much of performance then windows seven is the way to go ... and windows seven got improved capabilities for 3d visual entertainment and effects ...|||you've got tons of ram and a fast processor, dont worry about it go for windows 7, its much more stable and all the new games will prefer it. you will only have some problems running really really old games, most all games from the past 10 years will work, for instance I play starcraft absolutely fine and thats from 1998, you won't have any problems with games that came out like 3 years ago on xp.

Where do I find my Dell desktop drivers to support Windows 7?

I am using a Dell Vostro 220s desktop and I am running Windows Vista on it. I want to upgrade to Windows 7. Does it has inbuilt driver software? I checked with Dell for drivers to support Windows 7 and I see that they have drivers for BIOS, CD/DVD, Audio and Communications only. I couldn't find drivers for network card, video and chipset. ok, i upgraded from windows 7 on my dell laptop. its super old

cpu: intel pentium 4 3.2 ghz with hyperthreading on

ram: 1gb sdram

video: ati mobility radeon 9600/9700 with 64mb video ram

i was thinking seeing as my video card and cpu are mobile ones and cant be replaced with better ones. should i upgrade my ram to DDR PC3200, DDR (non-ECC) i can get a total of 2gb ram. would that give me a little more speed. everything runs ok. but opening programs and stuff is slow (not extremely but enough to make me want better performance.) so would upgrading ram improve-

opening programs

searching for files

opening folders (like the loading of thumbnails, would that be faster)

I don't plan on playing crysis but I'd like to play far cry 2 or arkham asylum with decent graphics. So basically I'd just like someone to point me in the right direction, I also want to be sure the cards are going to fit alright on that board. I'm using a Raidmax Aztec case so I have some room to work with. Any help would be greatly appreciated.|||Figure from the back of the chasis to the hard disk cage, you need 11 inches. That is the size of crossfire and SLI cards. 10-1/2 inches + 1/2 inch for a 12 volt 6 pin power connector. These are full height cards, not half height, so if you have a normal mid tower it should fit if you have the 11" space. You need one 12 volt 6 pin connector for EACH separate card to be crossfired or SLI'd.

The ATI HD 4890 card is really two GPU's in one card, thus it is like having Crossfire, only you have just one card in one single PCIe X 16 slot. The price is dropping on this card because ATI just released the Radeon HD 5870 card, but since you don't want the most expensive or the fastest or the highest grade card, the ATI HD 4890 would be more than sufficient for your needs. I consider the ATI HD 4890 to be a better card, and runs cooler, than the nVidia GTX 295, which is currently top of the line for nVidia. nVidia has not released a card yet that can compete with the ATI HD 5870 card, so for now the 5870 is the best there is in gaming cards. However, you would be smart to save money and get the ATI HD 4890. It will be more power than you need to run Crysis on HIGH or EXTREME level. So you sould be just fine with that card. It has HDMI out, 1 gig GDDR5 RAM, and its at a great price on Newegg:

It is less than $200!|||SAPPHIRE 100281SR Radeon HD 5870 (Cypress XT) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16

What video Card is better for me?

I have searched quite a bit for video cards that were super cheap but super effective. The objective is to run Crysis or Crysis: Warhead (With medium or high settings) on my Windows 7. The current VCard i have is an absolute joke. Here are the Some cards i looked into.

Ati Radeon HD 4870, 4890, or 4850

Radeon HD 5770, 5870 (No idea how'd it would do with Crysis)

As you can see, I only have Radeon Cards due to them being usually cheaper. If you have any other ideas that would be better than these (and around the same price too) then I'll gladly listen. I'm trying to keep this around the 200 - 250$ range at most. its fine if a few dollars over, but i dont got 300$ on me. I only have room for one slotted cards on my motherboard.

SPECS OF MY PC:

Intel premium processor E5300

750GB HDD

4GB DDR2 memory (Might upgrade)

Geforce 210 graphics card (haha.)|||The cards you've listed are good, but recent releases from both AMD and Nvidia over the past few months have surpassed them. The GTX 460 beats everything you've listed except the Radeon 5870. Meanwhile the Radeon 6850 and 6870 have one-upped the GTX 460.

Well, the first (and biggest) question which may impact your purchasing decision is... what capacity power supply does your computer have?

All midrange gaming cards require at least a 450-500 watt power supply.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

If your computer only has a 400W psu, you'd be limited to cards like the Radeon 5670 and GeForce 9800GT, which are well below the performance you're looking for. So some of your budget might need to go into a power supply upgrade.

Anyway, back to the graphics cards... there's a big breakpoint around the $175 mark in terms of power requirements.

Older generation cards like Nvidia's GTX 260 and ATI's Radeon 4870 require at least a 550W power supply with TWO (not just one) PCI-E power connectors. So you cannot run a GTX 260, Radeon 4870 or Radeon 4890 without an SLI/Crossfire capable power supply. Newer cards like the GTX 460 and Radeon 6870 also require dual power connectors.

For computers with a 500W power supply and single 6-pin power connector, the best card you can install is the Radeon 6850, which goes for about $200.

If you already have a 550W psu with dual power plugs, the Radeon 6870 is the best option in your price range. While the average price is around $270, some 6870 cards are selling for between $240-$260 currently.

Radeon 6850/6870 review

http://hothardware.com/Reviews/AMD-Radeo…

On a final note, all cards of this performance level will require a bit of space... even though they only occupy a single PCI-E x16 slot, they're wide enough to cover the adjacent slot, too. I hope when you say there's only room for single slotted cards, you can accomodate them.

True single-slot cards max out around the $100 level. All of the serious $120 and higher cards require 2 free slots at the back of your case (although they don't really occupy that much room on the motherboard).

While Crysis does run slightly better on Nvidia cards, you've got to compare apples to apples. While a GTX 460 is better than a Radeon 5770 (and more expensive) it's not better than a Radeon 6850. In your price & performance ranges, Radeon cards are the better buy.|||Ignore the suggestion to buy "E8600 or a quad core Q6600"... those are outdated. If you are going to buy a new CPU - go for i5/7 or PhenomII (new PC in other words). It not very smart to buy 3 years old CPUs... After all, you probably don't want to do a CPU upgrade again after a year or two.

Now, for Video Card:

For Crysis the best cards are nVidia. The game likes them... crysis is a racist xD. No, really, in a lot of comparisons nVidia cards have lost to ati, but not in Crysis games. Right now I'm with 5850 1GB. I'm ~happy with it (ATI driver problems... they are famous), but now seeing Fermi in action I really want to swap it for a GTX470. I do recommend this VGA over 5850. The CUDA, PhysX,... are + over 5850, which is on the same price range and performance.

PC Don't upgrade the RAM or anything else (except add HDD/SSD or change/add VGA... things that you can use in your future PC). 4GB is enough and you won't gain much from faster DDR2 modules. Wait till you go for a new PC. In other words - don't put any more money in this rig, unless you can use it in your future PC, which will be (should be) at least with LGA1366/AM3 CPU, DDR3 and new chipset.

BTW Don't go for nVidia cards before Fermi or Ati 4000 or under. Those are outdated too. Ati 4k doesn't support even DX11, the same goes for before Fermi nvidia cards (200 and under).

PS DX11 isn't the only thing the older cards are lacking. Right now you should go for GTX470 or 5850 if you really want Ati.|||here are some crysis benchmarks with most of the cards above,

the best one is the 4890 http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/rade…

here is another one with the 5870 http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/rade…

the 5870 is the best card there easily

here is a graphics card chart http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/graphics-c… higher is better the 5870 is 2 from top.

but your E5300 will slow it down (bottleneck) it on some games.

get a better processor like a E8600 or a quad core Q6600

here is a chart of processors http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gami…

yours is fifth from bottom

edit. dont forget you will need at least a 500w psu (power supply unit) to run a high end graphics card
