Windows 7 vs Windows Vista Question. Games-operating requirements?

I am buying a new computer and have been looking at what specs to get. The computer would have to run some games for my family such as the sims 3.

With this in mind, I was looking at the games requirements.

Windows XP (Service Pack 2)

2.0 GHz P4 processor or equivalent

1 GB RAM

At least 6.5 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB additional space for custom content

128 MB Video Card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0

Windows Vista (Service Pack 1)

2.4 GHz P4 processor or equivalent

1.5 GB RAM

At least 6.5 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB additional space for custom content

128 MB Video Card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0

As you can see the game requires a better pc when using windows vista.

My question is with Windows 7 nearly here, will I need an even more powerful PC to run these same games if i get windows 7.

If anyone can help me out and just generally provide more information about windows 7 and gaming i od really appreciate it.

Thanks a lot

Will|||hello will (my real name too)

and Windows 7 will not need any more then vista it is actually desigend to use less resources then vista so i wouldn't be surprised if the official release is less.

I am running Windows 7 right now and i also play sims 3

and i have no problems

my specs are:

2.8 ghz pentium 4 (single core) processor

2 gb of ram

512 mb video card with a geforce 8400 chipset

and im only using a 40 gb hard drive.

its a cheap test copmuter.|||i would not believe the above specs. For sims3 you need better than the above for it to work fast and seemlessly.

on your existing computer run this and compare the suggestions.

typically min 2.4 processor and win7 would be better than vista.

play with this

Can this computer run that game?

=========================

Run this program and click the red "We Recommend" where appropriate.

Note Halo2 is demanding on the operating system, see what it recommends

Crysis Warhead is demanding on the video card, see what it recommends.

Far Cry and FEAR is demanding on the processor.

WOW is a general all rounder, not as demanding as above.

When you see the Pass result at the top, look carefully as it shows the minimum to the best performance for that game., even though it pass, it may not be enough for maximum settings., so check the resultant Green chart ruler line at the top.

Click the Red fail tab as well.

Note: Sims 3 is listed under T.|||If any game runs on Vista, it will run way better on windows 7, with no need to upgrade any hardware, period.

"Windows 7 is what Vista should have been."
