Windows 7 problem with video/graphics card?

I have this Acer extensa 4420 laptop that i had and it had windows vista on it... but i was told that windows 7 was better! so i got it and installed it. But now for some reason i cant play video games or anything 3D for that matter. It always says somthing about the video card not being installed or somthing. My video card is a AMD 64 Athlon X2 and graphics card is ATI Radeon. Please help me|||Acer does have the drivers to support your ATI graphics module under Windows 7 in either 32-bit or 64-bit.

ATI's catalyst site may not yet support mobile chipsets, but most laptop manufacturers will have drivers if the system in question is not wormdirt old.

http://support.acer.com/drivers_download…

- Look in the upper/mid left where there is Product Support

- Click on Drivers&Downloads

- You will now get the lists.

- Select

- Notebook

- Extensa

- Scroll down to 4420

- In the operating system options, select which one you are using.

- Make sure the tab is on "Drivers" (It will be dark green if it is)

- Scroll down until you see two portions that say VGA and ATI

- Download the driver that matches your chipset.

- If you do not know, check your documentation...or....one will work, the other will not.

- Extract the drivers since they are zipped (double click on it)

- Either one will extract to an exe file

- Double click the executable file to install

Edit - If that does not work.

-Try using the Vista driver for the 4420 and see if it installs. I know back when 7 was in Release Candidate status, that it would install due to Vista being NT 6.0, and 7 being NT 6.1. Since the revision numbers are close, it might work.

or

- Try using the AMD/ATI Legacy Driver -- it does state that it will support mobility and all-in-wonder Radeons.

As per the bottom of the pages.

Note: AMD’s DirectX 9 ATI Radeon graphics accelerators are not officially supported under Windows 7. If the user chooses to, they can install the ATI Catalyst Windows Vista graphics driver under Windows 7. Please be aware that none of the new Windows 7 graphics driver (WDDM 1.1) features are supported (as the Windows Vista level graphics driver is limited to WDDM 1.0 level support).

Vista 32-bit version

Vista 64-bit version

http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/wi…|||Your CPU is a athlon X2 and your graphics card is a ATI radon. You need to go to ATI web site and download drivers and install them. Then every thing will work.|||Ask Me Stuff http://www.formspring.me/urielmarquez|||ATI has not started to offer Graphics Drivers for laptops on its website as yet so do this..

Make sure ur connected to the net

Right click on "My Computer" and choose "Manage"

Then choose "Device Manager"

Go to "Display adapters"

Right click on that and choose update drivers, let it update, hopefully it should find sumthing and install it and u should be good to go.

If the "Aero" transparencies and animations are already working in Windows 7 it means u already have the drivers but it may not hurt to do what i say and check for a newer one.

If you can hold out for a bit longer, ATI is gonna start releasing laptop drivers directly from its website soon.
